Preparations for the Journey

I can't believe I have less than a month to go before I leave! It's coming up quickly, and I can't quite conceptualize that I'll be out of the country for such a long time. I'm alternately excited and terrified. This week (more specifically, this weekend) has been all about preparing for the trip. I got a new pair of hiking boots (thanks Mom and Dad!), a nice new camera and a lens filter. I also got myself my carry-on: technically a camera bag, but rather inconspicuous and with convertible pockets.

So far, I've put all of these things to good use. I've been learning the ropes on my NEX-3n and taking pictures like crazy. I've been carrying it around in the camera bag, along with my water, rain jacket, and other sundries (this bag is bigger than it looks!), and I've taken a few jaunts in my hiking boots! It's all very exciting, and I can't wait to see how it all works in India. Here are a few shots of this weekend. It was Father's Day, so my parents came to the Cities and we spent some time at the Stone Arch Bridge Festival in addition to doing some volunteering at Feed My Starving Children in Eagan. I ended up heading back to Stone Arch with a friend to do some snooping around the art exhibits and music tents. A fabulous weekend!

I found some Oles!
I think I saw about 25 over the course of the weekend.

I. Love. Minneapolis.

I will reiterate my love for this beautiful city.

Fun with Thand.
